Global Trade Watch (GTW) promotes democracy by challenging corporate globalization, arguing that the current globalization model is neither a random inevitability nor “free trade.” Our work seeks to make the measurable outcomes of this model accessible to the public, press, and policy-makers, while emphasizing that if the results are not acceptable, then the model can and must be changed or replaced. GTW works on an array of globalization issues, including health and safety, environmental protection, economic justice, and democratic, accountable governance.

 The International Forum on Globalization advocates equitable, democratic, and ecologically sustainable economics. It is formed in response to the present worldwide drive toward a globalized economic system dominated by supranational corporate trade and banking institutions that are not accountable to democratic processes or national governments. These current trends toward globalization are neither historically inevitable nor desirable.

 Friends of the Earth is the U.S. voice of an influential, international network of grassroots groups in 70 countries. Founded in San Francisco in 1969 by David Brower, Friends of the Earth has for decades been at the forefront of high-profile efforts to create a more healthy, just world. Our members were the founders of what is now the world's largest federation of democratically elected environmental groups, Friends of the Earth International.

Common Frontiers grew out of the experience gained by Canadian organizations in confronting the Free Trade agenda. It was born out of the popular opposition movement to the Canada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement and the recognition that this opposition must not only cooperate across sectors nationally but also across borders. Common Frontiers went on to play an important strategic role in the struggle against NAFTA and is now helping to build the opposition to the Free Trade Area in the Americas (FTAA).

We are also actively seeking to create alternatives to this agenda. In this, as in the opposition to the Free Trade agenda, the ability to work in solidarity with Latin America and U.S. has been crucial. The result has been an extraordinary experience in cross-border social movement building.
